Live in Thailand – the Land of Smiles

Live in Thailand – Thailand, also called the “Land of Smiles” has been attracting overseas buyers for many years and it is a market that continues to grow and flourish. There is so much to recommend Thailand to the expat community, particularly to those from the northern hemisphere who want a place to winter before returning home for summer. Indeed, it is noticeable that Thailand, perhaps more than some other destinations has drawn the overseas buyer following this particular lifestyle.

The most familiar resort names include Phuket, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Bangkok, although there are many others with foreign communities of different sizes. So what is the attraction of buying property in Thailand? Umuzee.com has put together five reasons to invest in a property in this beautiful Asian country.

1. Breathtaking scenery and beaches

This includes friendly, helpful locals and well-establish expat communities make it a place where you’ll feel at home quickly and there will usually be a compatriot around who can show you the ropes if you’re feeling a bit out of your depth.

2. World-class healthcare

This is exactly why Thailand is a hot spot for medical tourism. Procedures cost 20% – 80% less than in Europe and the quality of care is far superior. The dental clinics are a particular draw with overseas visitors, thanks to their top quality service at low costs. And if you need prescription drugs, they are cheaper as well.

3.Thailand has a number of retirement visa options

For example, a monthly income of $2,000 or savings of $25,000 will qualify you for a visa. Also, some nationalities qualify for the new 6-month multiple entry visa, which works well if you don’t want to live there all year round.

4. It’s easy to find work

Thailand is attracting many digital nomads who can work remotely, but anyone moving here with at least an undergraduate degree will find plenty of jobs available. If you are qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) you will always have work as Thailand has an insatiable demand for English teachers.

5. The ultimate reason for buying a property in Thailand is the low cost of living

You can live well on a low budget, leaving plenty spare to splash out on luxuries more often than at home. Property prices are also competitive with other parts of the world. For example, prices in popular Chiang Mai range from $60,000 to $185,000, whilst in ‘posher’ Phuket, prices range from $200,000 – $500,000, although you can buy exclusive villas for a million upwards if you have the resources.
