Costa Blanca Property
If you’re looking for a home in the sun and ‘value for money’ is an important consideration, then Spain’s Costa Blanca is THE place to start your property search. It has a lengthy coastline, split into North and South, and as well as having some of the least expensive properties in a coastal area, plus some fantastic rural properties, it is also easily accessible via the international airport at Alicante.
The southern part of the Costa Blanca is a favourite with a great many expats of all nationalities and this fact alone continues to attract new property buyers, because they know there is a ready-built community there which makes settling in so much easier and comfortable. Besides Costa Blanca property, other areas like Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa have great beach resort developments, as well as a selection of golf courses, one of the outdoor activities that draws retirees in particular to Spain. Whilst there are older, resale properties here, Costa Blanca property also took a lead in contemporary style property developments. Of course, if you are working within a limited budget, the older properties are where you’ll find the real bargains.
Orihuela Costa has a number of connected resorts, including Villamartin, Playa Flamenca and Cabo Roig. These are served by Murcia airport as well as Alicante.
Costa Blanca property are available from €70,000 upwards and overall the southern Costa Blanca is less expensive than the north. However, it does have many Blue Flag beaches and is not short of a buzzing nightlife and four golf courses.
The northern Costa Blanca is more Spanish and has a greener landscape, plus a number of charming traditional fishing villages on its coastline that have property suited to the overseas investor nearby. Denia is one of the more sought after spots, but Altea and Calpe are also popular. Properties in Denia for example are in the range of €70,000 to €300,000 and inland from there, you will be looking at around €100,000 upwards. Denia also has the advantage of having a ferry port connecting it to the Balearic islands of Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca and both Alicante and Valencia airports add to the attractions of this city that has a solid expat community, but is still predominantly Spanish.
